About me

One year ago my life changed. I was approaching 30 which was scary enough in itself, I was just weeks away from having my second child and our newly purchased home was to put it politely, in a state! We had a kitchen with no plaster, nowhere to store my ever-growing collecting of useless kitchen gadgets and the sink wasn't attached to a wall. We were halfway through a full electrical re-wire and we had a leaky roof. Oh.....and I had just been made redundant from a job I had loved for 12 years.

Since then I have been a full time mummy, not a job I ever expected to be doing but along with thousands of people I find myself worth more being unemployed and paying no childcare cost rather than leaving my children with strangers and paying out more than I earn to do so. The house renovations have had to come to a bit of a stand still but it's a clean, safe and a happy home for me, my husband of 5 years and our two wonderful children, 4 year old Sarah and 1 year old Alfie and our newest addition Teddie the Cavachon puppy!

Like a lot of mums I am plagued with guilt not being able to contribute to the household finances whilst my husband works 50+ hours a week to keep our heads above water. So, my solution is to try and keep our expenditure as little as possible (with the exception of a few luxuries which everyone deserves of course!).

I will never pretend to know everything or be perfect at anything. I am not a tree-hugging environmentalist or have any particular beliefs but I am passionate about keeping my family happy, healthy and most of all SAVING MONEY!

If your are in a similar situation or if you have any great tips I would love to hear them - email me at trivialmummy@gmail.com

Oh....I'm Dianne by the way :0)
